𝙳𝚘 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚏𝚎𝚎𝚕 𝚊𝚗𝚡𝚒𝚘𝚞𝚜 𝚊𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚒𝚗𝚟𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐?

With markets hitting highs and tensions broiling between China and US and China's regulatory crackdown at the backdrop of the financial landscape, it is inevitable that anyone is anxious about investing. My clients have also been asking me about the recent volatility that the markets have posed. In fact, this has been a recurrent question BEFORE Covid (during Trump's administration), AFTER Covid and after the many lockdowns the world has experienced. In other words, the markets are always "too high" to invest if we are measuring the yardstick based on recent weeks or recent months. However, if we were to look at the longer scheme of time, investment has generally trended upwards.

Fret not, data has it that if we invest for the long term, 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗨𝗟𝗟𝘀 (𝘂𝗽𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲) 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦 (𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲). If you had invested in S&P500 in the past 10 years, you would have experience an annualised return of double digit growth! Sure enough, the market cycle tends to be filled with volatility and "shocks" but if we stay the course, the volatility that you experience in current market will only seem like a 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗴𝘆𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 in the longer investment
